Over 50 Goals scored in the ADFL 2013-14 Opening Games!


The season 2013-2014 Abu Dhabi Football League (ADFL) kicked off its fourth season with a bang at its home in Zayed Sports City this week. Organized by MMC Sportz and Zayed Sports City, this year’s ADFL promises to be as competitive as ever with thrills, spills and excitement for all involved. The Abu Dhabi Football League is the only UAE FA endorsed official amateur competition, sponsored by Abu Dhabi Islamic Baank, and is contested by 20 teams all battling for a share of the AED 80,000 prize pool.

The 2013-2014 season kicked off successfully on 04 November 2013 with all teams trying to prove attack is the best form of defense as we saw a whopping 53 goals scored in the opening games of the ADFL! University Sports Federation (USF) showed signs that they will be the team to beat with a convincing 7-1 victory over Diplomatic and Governmental. USF showed their class with a few brilliant team goals as well as some individual magic! AlHosn made it a tough start for newcomers Kobetas, scoring 6 goals in their opening match. Group 2 saw the return of last year's runners up Falcons Academy get off to a flyer with a 2-0 win against the Abu Dhabi Graduates. It was a closely contested game with the Falcons managing to break down the Graduates' hard fought defense on 2 occasions. Victory lived up to their name as they came out victorious in their first game with a solid 3-1 win over Mubadala. Al Fuad Sports Club and Zadco all recorded wins in their opening fixtures of Group 2. The highest scoring game of the opening week saw Zayed Sports City demolish ADIB 10-0! Zayed Sports City team are a regular now at the ADFL and they have clearly shown their intentions are set on lifting the trophy at the end of the season.

The league is sanctioned by the UAE Football Association and supported by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Wilson and Sport 360. Matches are scheduled on Mondays and Tuesday from 9.00p.m onwards on pitch 11 and 12, Zayed Sports City.
